In 2014 Colin & Trisha Lucas* carried out an extensive survey of the beetle species present on the Green- although the pitfall traps that are used may seem harsh, and result in the demise of the beetle, the knowledge gained is invaluable and we were told by Colin & Trisha that the range of species recorded indicated that the right balance of conservation management was being carried out by the Green’s band of volunteers.

*Colin & Trisha have been surveying sites for beetles and bugs (they specialise in leafhoppers) in Suffolk for several years now and in the process have discovered species that haven’t been recorded in the county before.
