The orchard was planted in early 2008, with trees bought from the East of England Apples and Orchards Project (EEAOP). There were originally 12 apples, 4 pears, 5 plums and one cherry. This is a peaty soil, so the vigorous trees have grown well and some have become a bit top heavy.
In October 2016 we formed an ‘orchard group’ – made up of Green volunteers particularly interested in orchards, to carry out practical work and plan for the future.
In 2017 we planted an almond, a quince and a medlar.
