Lester’s Piece (3.64 hectares) is named after Lester Kent who sold us the land in 2001.

It lies between the Town River to the north and the Blyth Road Industrial Estate. The all-weather track connects Blyth Road Industrial Estate with the Town Centre and via the underpass under the railway into Blyth Meadow.
It is grazed in summer by cattle and has a permanently wet spring-fed ditch which during dry spells is the only water supply for the cattle on the Green. There are areas of semi-improved grassland with cuckoo flower and marsh foxtail.
